Bio

Eldar Krainer (b. 1992, Israel) is an MFA (Master of Fine Arts) candidate at Goldsmiths University in London, UK (2023). He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, Israel (2019) and participated in a student exchange programme at the Academy of Fine Arts (Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst) in Leipzig, Germany.

Krainer creates sculptures that seek to translate emotional mechanisms into industrial and cold machines. He is intrigued by the exploitative nature of modern technologies to shape our identity, influence our relationships with others, and feed our pressing need for goods. Integrating classical sculpting methods with cutting-edge technology, his objects resemble faulty industrial prototypes, extracting both artificial and bodily sensations.

Krainer had his first solo show at Art Cube Artists' Studios in Jerusalem in 2020 and took part in several group shows in London at Lumen Crypt Gallery (2022) and Copeland Gallery (2022) and also exhibited his works at Edmond de Rothschild Center in Tel-Aviv (2020), the online biennial 'The Wrong Biennale' (2019), the "Factory" Center for Culture and the Arts in Jerusalem (2018), the New Gallery Artists' Studios Teddy in Jerusalem (2017), The Cuckoo's Nest Gallery in Jaffa (2017), and at the annual Bauhaus Film and Video Art Festival in Weimar, Germany (2017).
